Introducing Power for the Free

I’ll be the first to tell you that energy can be boring to talk about. But what energy powers never is.

That's the root of our new series, Power for the Free. Not solar panels. Not gigawatts. Not supply chains. It’s the people. Specifically, the Americans who wake up every day and go all-in on something — a craft, a calling, a code — powered in ways they may not even think about.

Energy is in all forms around us. It is the driving force of society, whether we acknowledge it on a daily basis or not.

I’ll be the first to tell you, energy can be a boring topic at the dinner table. The stories, the people, the innovation our energy powers, now thats something entirely different.

Our new series does not focus on energy in the sense you might assume from T1. There will be very little talk of solar panels, gigawatts, or supply chains. This is for the Americans who wake up every day and choose to go all-in on a craft. A calling. A code.

Energy can take on many forms. With this series we aimed to capture much more than just photons.

It’s my pleasure to introduce: Power for the Free.

The Stories

I could say ten good things about each story in the series – I mean that. But for me, two in particular made a personal impact.

Dawson Gleaves, the bull rider — hit differently. The man has his code and he lives by it. No apologies, no performance. Just a person who is exactly who he says he is, doing something most people would never attempt. To me, that conviction is distinctly American. It’s also just awesome to witness.

Then, there's Chris Seth, the aviation mechanic from small-town Texas. He takes planes apart, puts them back together, and then just casually goes out and flies over the bay. He has a voice designed for movies. But more than that — I just think the wisdom in how he told his story was particularly beautiful.

What it says

No energy company has ever made content like this. We were deliberate and intentional about every aspect of this campaign. These stories were shot on film; we traveled to be there in person at each location.

Marketing in energy has historically been transactional. That’s not our goal here.

Other industries have done a much better job of telling their stories, while having far less of an impact on people's daily lives. T1 is building a new foundation to support the future of our country. We wanted to show why that’s important.

Ten stories. Ten people who go all-in on something every day, powered by the grid T1 is helping to build.

This is Power for the Free.
