T1's commitment: Build a future domestic supply chain from raw materials abundantly found in the USA
Protective Barrier: The USA is a leading global producer of high-purity silica sand, essential for solar panels manufacturing. There are major silica sand deposits in states like Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, Minnesota, Arkansas, and South Carolina.
Framing: The USA has a robust aluminum industry, with significant capacity for recycling scrap aluminum, which supplements primary production. Domestic steel can also be used for modules.
Wafer: The USA has large deposits of low-boron silica that is a key raw material in solar manufacturing.
Sealant: As the largest crude oil producer, the USA has easy access to EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) which is an oil derivative available from petroleum refineries along the Gulf Coast.
Weather-Proofing: While most rubber used in the USA is imported, a multi-university consortium is at work developing domestic natural rubber supply. Synthetic rubber is manufactured from petroleum products.
Stringing: The USA has very large copper reserves, with estimates exceeding 48 trillion tons in states such as Arizona, Nevada, Minnesota, and Utah.
Contacts: The USA has significant silver reserves and produced about 1,100 metric tons of silver in 2024. Major silver mines are located in Nevada and Idaho, with ongoing expansion projects expected to boost future output.
